Dear MSA Families,
It is with a heavy heart, an abundance of caution, and intense focus on the safety and health of our students and staff, that we decided to cancel Summer Camp this summer. This was a very difficult decision as we held out hope that we could open up our building to the MSA families and community for several weeks this summer. But we could not see how we could comply with County and State requirements and guidelines that are not yet available in time to open up for even an abbreviated summer camp session. Given the CDC guidelines, which are extensive, we will need to focus all our effort and resources over the summer to be ready to open for the next school year in late August.
To the families who turned in applications and deposits for summer camp, we will work with you to return your checks and appreciate your support.
Our decision is consistent with those of Fairfax County Rec Centers and nearby independent schools’ to cancel summer camp, but that does not make it any less difficult and disappointing. We continue to face COVID-19 challenges and two of us on the Board of Trustees find ourselves having fond memories of fighting with our young (preschool aged) boys to put on sunscreen before dropping them off in the MSA lobby to start another fun-filled day of camp with their friends.
We look forward to the day when we can celebrate simple things together, and wish you a healthy and safe summer. MSA Board of Trustees
